Dinners of Six

Dinners of Six is a gathering of six people (three couples, six singles, or a combination of couples and singles) for the sharing of dinner. The groupings may have fewer than six participants, of necessity; but, groupings of more than six are discouraged in an effort to keep the dinners small enough to be hosted in the people’s homes and to encourage greater fellowship among the participants.

The purpose of Dinners of Six is to promote Christian fellowship, to offer an opportunity to get to know one another, and to meet new people. The goal is simply for the participants to have two or three hours to get to know each other better through the sharing of a meal and through informal discussion in a relaxed atmosphere.

Participants (couples or singles) will be rotated randomly so as to be grouped with different people each time. The participants will be assigned to groups so that dinners will be scheduled approximately three times per year (January/April, May/August, and September/December). For each grouping, a different participant (couple or single) will be assigned to host the dinner at their home. The host will be notified of the other participants in their group. The groupings will also be posted on the bulletin board at the church. It will then be the host’s responsibility to contact the other participants and determine the date, the time, and the plan for the meal. The meal does not need to be fancy – it can be as simple as a salad, pizza ordered in, and ice cream. No fine china is needed – paper plates will do.

The Dinners of Six program is open to all adults who are participating in the fellowship of the Church of the Redeemer Moravian Church. Dinners of Six is an adult activity given that there are other activities for family fellowship within the church. Parents will be responsible to arrange for childcare for their own children during the dinners.

Women’s Fellowship

All Women who attend Redeemer are members of the Women’s Fellowship. We meet on the first Tuesday of every month for Bible study and plan fellowship opportunities. We use the study materials available through the Provincial Women’s Board. This year’s study is on the book of Romans entitled “Adventures in Faith with Paul” written by Edwin A Sawyer and revised by Robert E. Sawyer.

We make and sell delicious chicken pies, host an occasional breakfast or dinner, and plan other events each year to earn funds to help support Redeemer’s “Friends of the Homeless” Mission.

We also enjoy giving showers to celebrate Redeemer’s special joys such as new babies and weddings.

Women are strengthened, inspired and encouraged with the friendship of other women. Our purpose is to grow together in Christ and honor God as we serve others according to His will. Please join us!
